What oddsmakers are projecting for Patriots, Drake Maye in 2025

Arguably the most anticipated season since the end of the Tom Brady era in Foxborough is set to begin on Sunday.

There’s certainly one way to prove that there are greater expectations for the Patriots in 2025 than there have been in other recent years. If you look at how oddsmakers view the Patriots entering the year, you’d notice that Mike Vrabel has some pressure to succeed when they kick the season off against the Raiders on Sunday.

So, let’s take a look at what oddsmakers are projecting the Patriots, Drake Maye, and some other key members to do in 2025.

The Patriots are still viewed as a long-shot title contender. However, you can tell that expectations are higher this year than last season based on the odds. At this time last year, the Patriots’ win total was set at 4.5, while their Super Bowl odds were at the bottom of the league.

This year, oddsmakers project the Patriots to be at least a playoff contender. Their +115 odds to make the playoffs give them a 46.5 percent implied probability of playing in the postseason. Even though the Patriots’ win total is set at 8.5, they’re actually favored to win 11 of their 17 games in the regular season.

The Patriots also have the second-best odds to win the AFC East, trailing just the Bills. Of course, Buffalo, which has won the division in each of the last five years, is a massive favorite to win the AFC East again with -330 odds.

Oddsmakers aren’t projecting Maye to be a top quarterback just yet. His +5000 odds to win MVP are tied for the 18th-best, with all of the players listed in front of him also being quarterbacks.

Still, oddsmakers are projecting Maye to have a solid season as he enters Year 2. He threw for 2,276 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions last year, but remember, he played in 13 games and only started and finished 10 of those games.

If Maye puts up the same stats he had per game or better last year in 2025, he’ll hit the over on each of those stats totals as long as he plays all 17 games.

A few Patriots seem to be in contention for major awards entering the season. Vrabel has the best odds to win one of the top awards as he’s the betting favorite to win Coach of the Year.

Vrabel actually won Coach of the Year when he was with the Titans, taking home the award in 2021. That win by Vrabel was only just one of four occasions since 2010 where the coach who won the award helped his team reach the postseason in the previous year. In most years, the winner of the award has been a coach who has helped his team reach the playoffs after they failed to make it in the prior season. So, Vrabel is a strong candidate for the award in that regard.

Gonzalez is also in the mix for Defensive Player of the Year. He actually has the same odds as last year’s winner, Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II, entering the season. However, Gonzalez will miss the season opener due to a hamstring injury that’s kept him out of practice since July, so maybe that isn’t a good wager to make.

Elsewhere, Diggs is a reasonable candidate to win Comeback Player of the Year. The 31-year-old will play on Sunday after tearing his ACL last October. DraftKings Sportsbook isn’t projecting him to have major numbers in 2025, though, setting his receiving yards total at 750.5 and his receiving touchdowns total at 4.5.

Finally, Henderson has quickly become a favorite among Patriots fans and fantasy football players. His standout performance in the preseason has helped his odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year improve, with only four first-round picks (Ashton Jeanty, Cam Ward, Travis Hunter, Omarion Hampton) holding better odds. DraftKings Sportsbook has set Henderson’s rushing yards projection at 700.5 as he figures to split carries with Rhamondre Stevenson.
